Attractions in Boscastle
Built in the 1500s, Boscastle Harbour is a popular destination for visitors to Boscastle, and is used by local fisherman and pleasure craft offering day trips to visitors.
The harbour area also has a Craft Centre, gift shops and The Witches' Museum.
Much of the harbour, the Valency Valley and the coastline are owned and managed by the National Trust and are rated as areas of 'Outstanding Natural Beauty'.
Forrabury Common, situated on the cliff above the harbour, is also classed as a 'Site of Special Scientific Interest'.
The area surrounding Boscastle has a variety of coastal and countryside walks for visitors to enjoy.
One of the many scenic walks that can be taken to explore the area is along the path on the banks of the Valency River to St Juliot's Church, where the author and poet Thomas Hardy met his first wife Emma, the sister of the vicar's wife.
Walking along the riverside path, it is possible to see a variety of wild flowers, birds, and occasionally deer, badgers, foxes and rabbits.
The coastal path is also popular for spotting a variety of sea life, including seals, dolphins, basking sharks and peregrine falcons.

- Rocky Valley, with Neolithic carvings
- Highcliff - at 731ft, the highest cliff in Cornwall, with marvellous views and sunsets
- Bossiney Cove, a sandy beach with a waterfall, caves and rockpools
- Crackington or Trebarwith's sandy beaches, which are ideal for surfing and swimming

- Horse riding, coarse fishing, rock climbing, golfing
- Discovering the wild rugged scenery of Bodmin Moor
- Hiring bikes to explore the Camel Trail between Bodmin and Padstow
- Exploring the South-West Coastal Path
Slightly further afield, the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Tate Gallery at St lves are popular with visitors to Cornwall, and are all approximately one hour's drive from The Grockle.
